The UDIA “Contribution of Development Industry to Queensland” Report

This study, released for March 2018, examines the contribution of the development industry to the Queensland economy, and its regions.

The development industry includes organisations and individuals involved in the planning, design, and delivery of residential, commercial, retail and community property and infrastructure. This includes professions such as engineers, designers, architects, builders, tradespeople and surveyors.

In short, the development industry is involved in growing the built environment and encompasses the following activities:

  • Land sub-division
  • Low, medium and high density
  • Infill and greenfield residential developments

  • Urban renewal
  • Community facilities and open space
  • Commercial and retail development
  • Hotels and resorts
