The IBN Direct 3rd Annual Charity Golf Day took place on Friday, 2nd September 2016 at Pelican Waters Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast.
Thank you to those who were able to join us for a fun day of networking, golf and ultimately to raise funds for two causes close to our hearts. This year we once again supported brave Lindsay Carter and his mum, Lanai, in their battle to beat Lindsay’s inoperable brain tumour. More details about Lindsay’s fight here. We are also supported local charity STEPS Group, who help create a brighter future for young people with a disability. More information about Steps Charity here.
The weather was kind to us and the breeze kept (most of) the clouds away. With just a light sprinkle mid-round, the teams put up a fierce battle for first place.
We are so very pleased and proud to announce that together with our amazing sponsors (Carolans First National Real Estate Sunshine Coast, Able Security Group, 92.7 Mixfm, Tides Waterfront Dining, Caloundra Bulk Billing Surgery and Aussie World to name just a few) and players, we were able to raise $10,000 at our 3rd Annual IBN charity golf day! This much needed money will be shared between STEPS Charity and Help Lindsay beat this brain tumour. What a great result!

2nd Annual Charity Golf Day 2015
The 2nd Annual IBN Direct CHARITY GOLF DAY was held on Friday, 18th September 2015 at the Pelican Waters Golf Club, Sunshine Coast.
Despite overnight rain, the forecast was for “mostly fine” and we woke up to glorious blue skies, albeit a bit of of a breeze. With an chance to win $10,000 on three separate holes, our Players arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and after a sausage sizzle, some coffee and the obligatory player briefing, they were ready to hit the greens.
Unfortunately no-one scored the elusive hole-in-one bounty on the day, though the closest was Pelican Waters Golf Club Member, Gary Tronc, landing just 0.7 metres away from the hole on the 6th.
The best part of the day came when Lanai and son Lindsay Carter were able to join us for lunch. Lanai gave us an insight into the struggle for treatment and their fight to have it made available in Australia. She had two images showing the size of Lindsay’s tumour, before and after treatment overseas, which was a remarkable result.
The day concluded with lots of lucky door prizes, the raffle and Charity Auction, all of which could not happen without the generosity of our Sponsors and Donors.
We are pleased to announce next year’s date, so lock it in your calendar: Friday, 2nd September 2016.

Inaugural Charity Golf Day 2014
IBN Direct hosted our Inaugural Charity Golf Day on Friday 19th September 2014. With over 70 players on the day, we were fortunate to have a warm spring day with blue skies and a light breeze.
The question on everyone’s minds was “who was going to lucky enough to get a hole-in-one on the 4th hole?”. Not just any hole-in-one, but one fraught with danger from a swooping magpie and a promise of $35,000 for the lucky golfer whose aim was true. Under the watchful eye of Kristina Spencer from the MFAA, the teams all passed through Hole 4, but sadly no-one won the prize.
We did have winners on the day, most of all, our nominated charity Lindsay Carter. All proceeds from the players fees and sponsorships, raffles and the charity auction have resulted in over $10,000 being raised for Lindsay to help him and his mother, Lanai, beat his brain tumour.
A fantastic day was had by all, thanks to Pelican Waters for their friendly service and being a major sponsor. We look forward to next year’s Golf Day, with players and sponsors already registering with us!
